Bandipur

Bandipur
Bandipur

Only 4 hours from Kathmandu, Bandipur is an ideal place for a quiet holiday. Bandipur is a hilltop settlement in Tanahun District (Gandaki Zone) of Nepal. Because of its preserved, old time cultural atmosphere, Bandipur has become a popular destination. It is like a living museum of Newari culture. The peaceful and distinctively clean village is lined with tall Newari houses, still preserving the culture and heritage of Nepal.

Besides that architecture, you can relax and enjoy the panoramic Himalayan range with mountain views of   Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Mt.  Macchapucchare (6997m), Mt. Lantang Lirung (7246m), Mt. Manasalu (8162m) and Mt.  Ganesh Himal (7246m).

One can enjoy picturesque hikes to Thani Mai Temple, hilltop view point known as Gadhi and  trek towards Mukundeswari.  There are a couple of caves that you can explore. There is a famous cave called Siddha Gupa, the largest cave in Nepal and Patale Dwar.
